History Of A Western Pa Bridal Store
Our story began in 1991 when the Pederson family acquired Modern Bride.
The original 2,000 sq ft location opened with just two employees, 20 wedding dresses, and 25 bridesmaid dresses. Successful growth over the next decade of operations led to two separate expansions that more than doubled the floor space. The early days weren’t without obstacles, though. The owners of Modern Bride Magazine sued us for copying their name. We decided that it was time for a change and that we had grown into a new identity since the original acquisition. MB Bride & Special Occasion was born.
By 2004 MB Bride prepared to keep up with its growing reputation.
MB Bride purchased and renovated the old Greensburg Lumber store later that year. We still call the 15,600 square foot location home today, although it has undergone several transformations over the years. The Prom Store was added in 2006, along with an expanded alterations department and an innovative gown storage system. In 2012 several fitting rooms were added throughout the store, the alterations department was redesigned to better serve both our customers and our expert associates. Other various cosmetic changes resulted in the store you see now.
Today, MB Bride & Special Occasion has gained national recognition.
We now offer over 600 bridal dresses and over 1,300 bridesmaid dresses. Our expert bridal consultants travel to Chicago, New York, Amsterdam, London, Barcelona, and other cities at the center of the industry to meet with cutting edge designers and learn about fabrics, construction, and the newest style trends. The experts guiding your experience are even invited to critique designer lines. After all, they know many of the industry’s leading designers personally. Our bridal consultants are part of what separates us from the competition and what keeps us at the forefront of the industry.
While MB Bride has experienced much change in the last three decades, our commitment to our customers and our desire to lead the industry remains as strong as the day we opened our doors 25 years ago.
